Connect Alloa Brand Identity

My Roles:
Concept Creation, Visual Design, Animation

Work completed at Tangent
I developed brand guidelines for Connect Alloa, a youth charity formed to tackle loneliness and isolation in youth communities in Alloa. I delivered a flexible brand toolkit that enabled the organisation to generate a variety of designs that could be tailored to specific age ranges. The toolkit encompassed infographic content, image-led content as well as emoticons suitable for platforms like Instagram, Facebook and Discord allowing us to cater to varying preferences.

The logo is confident and concise, and is based on stickers and badges often associated with youth movements. Whilst a circular badge-shape suggests the idea of belonging, animating the logo could add a sense of diversity and will work well in digital spaces.

Since the target audience for Connect are those aged 11-19, I took inspiration from the visual language of social media as young people are often dedicated internet users and will be familiar with vibrant, clear and bold digital aesthetics. Using this youthful, digital visual language helps to get across the idea of ‘connecting’ whilst still appealing to those at the younger end of the age bracket as well as those at the older end.

Icons & Emojis

As this route is heavily influenced by digital visuals, icons were created for stickers and digital content (some platforms like Discord  support custom emojis).  As well as emojis, icons of the activities Connect organises were be created to explain what types of activities are on offer and to add to the brand visuals.
